Will and Grace

US television comedy series. First broadcast by the National Broadcasting Company (NBC) network in 1998, it explores the relationship and romantic misadventures of roommates and best friends Will Truman (Eric McCormack, 1963- ), who is gay, and Grace Adler (Debra Messing, 1968- ), who is straight. The series has earned a number of Emmy awards, including Outstanding Comedy Series (2000).

The lead characters are strongly supported by Karen Walker (Megan Mullally, 1958- ), Grace's alcoholic socialite assistant, and Jack McFarland (Sean Hayes, 1970- ), Will's outrageous, campy, sensitive, self-absorbed friend. The two received Outstanding Supporting Actress/Actor Emmy awards in 2000, and McCormack received the Outstanding Lead Actor award in 2001. The series was created by David Kohan and Max Mutchnick, and directed and produced by James Burrows (who was responsible for other NBC hit series such as Frasier and Friends).

In the series, which is based in Manhattan, Will is a successful, handsome, and sweet lawyer and Grace is a beautiful, sassy interior designer. The series follows their string of romantic, professional, and emotional mishaps, always with their relationship with each other as a certain, if slightly wobbly, foundation.
