Williams Lake

Town in Cariboo Regional District, south-central British Columbia, Canada; population (1991) 10,400. It is situated between the Fraser River and the Cariboo Mountains, 333 km/207 mi north-northeast of Vancouver. It is the service centre for the Cariboo and Chilcotin cattle raising regions. Local industries include sawmilling, agriculture, logging, and mining. Tourists are drawn to the annual Stampede (rodeo), one of Canada's largest.
