Willingboro

Town in Burlington County, west-central New Jersey; population (1990) 36,300. It is located 21 km/13 mi northeast of Camden, on Rancocas Creek near the Delaware River. Its industries produce plumbing and printing supplies and electronic components.

The area was originally inhabited by the Lenni Lenape (Delaware), and was settled by English Quakers in the late 1600s. Called Levittown (1959–63), after the large real-estate firm that developed it, the core of the largely residential township was planned as a community of one-family homes and town houses, a residential suburb of Camden and Philadelphia.
