Wilmette

Town in Cook County, northeast Illinois; population (1990) 26,700. It is situated on Lake Michigan and the North Shore Channel, 24 km/15 mi north of Chicago. It is an affluent residential community. Wilmette is the home of the Baha'i House of Worship (1921), the centre of the Baha'i faith in North America.
