Wilson, Charles Edward

Wilson, Charles Edward (1886–1972)

US corporate executive. Born in New York, New York, he ended a 51-year career with General Electric (GE) as its president (1940–50), known for his tough anti-union policies and willingness to close plants in communities dependent on GE for jobs. He directed the War Production Board (1942–44). An influential government adviser during Harry Truman's presidency, he became chairman of WR Grace and Co. (1952).
