Wilson, James Harrison

Wilson, James Harrison (1837-1925)

US soldier. Born near Shawneetown, Illinois, as a hard-hitting Union cavalry commander he defeated Nathan Forrest at Franklin, Tennessee in 1864. A detachment of his command captured Jefferson Davis in Georgia in May 1865. Wilson volunteered on the outbreak of the Spanish-American War and saw service in China during the Boxer Rebellion in 1900.
