Wilson, Thomas (Brendan) (1927– )

US-born Scottish composer. He studied at Glasgow University and lectured there from 1927. His works have employed serial technique and include the operas The Charcoal Burners (1968) and Confessions of a Justified Sinner (1976).

four symphonies (1956, 1965, 1982, 1988), Touchstone, ‘portrait for orchestra’ (1967), concerto for orchestra (1967), piano concerto (1984), chamber concerto (1986), viola concerto (1987), chamber symphony (1990), violin concerto (1993).

Chamber

four string quartets, piano trio (1966), cello sonata (1973).

Choral

three Masses, Te Deum, and other church music.

Piano

piano sonata and sonatina.
