Wilson-Johnson, David (1950– )

English baritone. He studied at the Royal Academy of Music, London (1973–76). He appeared in London at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden from 1976 (making his debut in the first performance of We Come to the River). He was a frequent recitalist in Schubert's Winterreise and was heard also in Walton's Belshazzar's Feast and Beethoven's ninth Symphony. He created Arthur in the first performance of The Lighthouse (Edinburgh 1980) and sang the title role in the first UK concert performance of St François d'Assise (London, 1988). Other modern repertory included Choregos in Punch and Judy (Amsterdam, 1993).
