Winbergh, Gösta (1943– )

Swedish tenor. After study in Stockholm he made his debut in 1971 at Gothenburg, as Rodolfo. Between 1973 and 1980 he performed with Stockholm Opera; he sang Belmonte at Glyndebourne (1980) and Jacquino at Salzburg (1982). In 1982 he sang Mozart's Titus at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London, and was Don Ottavio at the Metropolitan Opera House, New York (1983). Other roles included Tamino (La Scala, Milan, 1985), Ferrando (Houston, 1988), and Nermorino. He moved onto some heavier roles, with Lohengrin at Zurich (1991) and Walther at the Royal Opera House (1993).
