Winkler

Town in south Manitoba, Canada; population (1991) 6,400. It is located 93 km/58 mi southwest of Winnipeg, 13 km/8 mi east of Morden, and 19 km/12 mi north of the North Dakota state border. It is the trade, processing, and service centre of the fertile Pembina Valley region. After World War II, local retail business and industry grew. Industries include the manufacture of recreational vehicles, mobile homes, prefabricated houses, agricultural machinery, and metal and plastic products.
