Winthrop

Town in Suffolk County, northeast Massachusetts; population (2000 est) 18,300. It is situated on a peninsula enclosing part of Boston Harbor, across from Logan International Airport. A suburb and coastal resort, it has several yacht clubs, but little industry. It was incorporated in 1852.

The Deane Winthrop House (1637) is a local landmark.
