Wirén, Dag (Ivar) (1905–1986)

Swedish composer and critic. He studied at the Stockholm Conservatory; in 1932 he received a stage grant and continued his studies with Leonid Sabaneiev in Paris. On his return he became a music critic at Stockholm.

Orchestral

five symphonies (1932–64), sinfonietta; serenade for strings; cello concerto, violin concerto, piano concerto.

Chamber

five string quartets (1930–70), two piano trios, two sonatinas for cello and piano.

Other

piano pieces; songs.
