Wodonga| Town in Victoria, Australia, on the south bank of the River Murray, on the border with New South Wales, 300 km/186 mi north of Melbourne; population (1996) 25,800. Its twin town, on the north bank of the river is Albury, and the two towns are commonly referred to as Albury-Wodonga. Along with Albury, the town emerged as a national growth centre in the 1970s, and is a service centre for the surrounding agricultural region (cereal crops, cattle, and wine). |
