Wodonga

Town in Victoria, Australia, on the south bank of the River Murray, on the border with New South Wales, 300 km/186 mi north of Melbourne; population (1996) 25,800. Its twin town, on the north bank of the river is Albury, and the two towns are commonly referred to as Albury-Wodonga. Along with Albury, the town emerged as a national growth centre in the 1970s, and is a service centre for the surrounding agricultural region (cereal crops, cattle, and wine).

La Trobe University, based in Melbourne, has a campus at Wodonga.

The campus of La Trobe University at Wodonga was formed when the Wodonga Institute of Tertiary Education amalgamated with La Trobe in 1991; almost 1,000 students are enrolled at the Wodonga campus.
