Wogan, Terry (1938– )

Irish presenter and radio disc jockey who after a long stint as the breakfast-show presenter on BBC's Radio 2 in the 1970s, became British TV's leading chat show host in the 1980s. Starting with one programme per week in 1984, he moved to thrice-weekly shows in 1985.

He has been a long-standing presenter of Come Dancing and the Eurovision Song Contest, as well as a leading spokesperson for the charity Children in Need. He was knighted in 2005 and published an autobiography Mustn't Crumble, the following year.
