Wolf River

Name of two rivers, respectively in the US states of Wisconsin, and Mississippi and Tennessee. The longer of the two rivers rises in the northeast of Wisconsin and flows in a generally southerly direction for 338 km/210 mi before emptying into Lake Winnebago at the city of Oshkosh. It was an important river for lumber transportation in the late 19th century, and is considered one of the best rivers in Wisconsin for catching pike, pickerel, and bass. The Wolf River in Mississippi and Tennessee is 100 km/60 mi long, rising northeast of Holly Springs, Mississippi, and flowing northwest across the Tennessee border to reach Memphis. This was also a major river for forestry, from the 1880s to the1910s.
