Woolman, Mary

Woolman, Mary (Raphael) (1860–1940)

US home economist. A well-known lecturer and author, she specialized in vocational education and textiles, publishing among other works Textiles: A Handbook for Students and Consumers (1913) and Clothing: Choice, Care, Cost (1920). Born in Camden, New Jersey, she was educated at Columbia University and taught domestic economy at Teachers College, Columbia University (1893–1912).
