Working Title

British film company. Established in 1982, it has produced several internationally successful films, beginning with My Beautiful Laundrette in 1985, and has combined a commitment to low-budget independent films with shrewd deals for international distribution with major studios such as Universal. It is co-chaired by Tim Bevan (1957– ) and Eric Fellner (1959– ).

Working Title films include the romantic comedies Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994), Notting Hill (1999), and Bridget Jones's Diary (2001), all written by Richard Curtis and starring Hugh Grant; the Coen brothers' films Fargo (1996), The Big Lebowski (1998), and The Man Who Wasn't There (2001); and many popular book adaptations such as High Fidelity (2000), Captain Corelli's Mandolin (2001), and Dead Man Walking (1995).

The company formed WT 2 in 1999 to produce lower-budget films. It had major successes with Billy Elliot (2000) and Ali G Indahouse (2002). WTA, Working Title's office in Australia, opened in 2001 and released Ned Kelly in 2003.
