International Court of Justice

Interior of the United Nations International Court of Justice in The Hague, the Netherlands. Independent judges are elected by the Security Council and the General Assembly. Judgements pronounced are final and cannot be appealed against.

Main judicial organ of the United Nations, in The Hague, the Netherlands. It hears international law disputes as well as playing an advisory role to UN organs. It was set up by the UN charter in 1945 and superseded the World Court. There are 15 judges, each from a different member state.
