World Cup

The most prestigious competition in international soccer, organized by the sport's world governing body, Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA). Similar international competitions are also held in rugby union, cricket, athletics, and other sports.

Most world cup events are held every four years but the skiing world cup, the Alpine World Cup, is an annual event.
