Unitary authority in north Wales. A former county, it was part of Clwyd between 1974 and 1996.

Greenfield Valley near Holywell was at the forefront of the Industrial Revolution with a number of mills and factories built there in the 18th century, and now has a museum of industrial archaeology. There is an airport at Hawarden.
