Worthington

Town and administrative headquarters of Nobles County, southwest Minnesota; population (1990) 10,000. It is situated on Okebena Lake, 14 km/9 mi north of the Iowa state border. It is the economic hub for surrounding farms, processing poultry (especially turkeys) and producing farm sprayers, luggage carriers, ice cream, concrete products, and alfalfa meal. Situated in a lake region, the town is also a summer tourist centre. It was founded as a temperance colony in 1871.

Worthington

Town in Franklin County, central Ohio; population (1990) 14,900. It is situated on the Olentangy River, 5 km/3 mi north of Columbus, of which it is a suburb. There is some industry on the fringes of the city, but most residents commute to jobs in Columbus. Worthington was founded (1803) by settlers from Connecticut, whose New England background can still be discerned in its village green, churches, and other buildings.
