wren

Any of the family Troglodytidae of small birds of the order Passeriformes, with slender, slightly curved bills, and uptilted tails.

The only Old World wren is the species Troglodytes troglodytes with a cocked tail, and short, rounded wings, found in Europe and northern Asia, as well as North America. The house wren of North America, Troglodytes aedon, is common in brush, farmyards, and parks.
