Wright, Brian

Wright, Brian (1946– )

English conductor. He studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London and with Jascha Horenstein. He made his debut at the Royal Festival Hall, London, in 1972 (with Handel's Messiah). He conducted the BBC Symphony Orchestra Chorus (1976–84), leading the Berlioz Requiem and Liszt's Christus. He was guest conductor with major London orchestras, in the Verdi and Dvořák Requiems, and the Mask of Time and A Child of our Time by Tippett. He has directed first performances of works by Robert Simpson and Wilfred Josephs.
