Wycombe, West

    0.01 sec.

Wycombe, West

Village in Buckinghamshire, now forming part of the borough of High Wycombe. Most of the village, which contains many 17th- and 18th-century buildings, belongs to the National Trust. The latter also owns West Wycombe Park, 3 km/2 mi west of High Wycombe.

On the hill is a curious church, built in 1763, surmounted by a golden ball capable of holding 12 people, which has associations with the English courtier Francis Dashwood (1708–1781), as do the caves in the hillside.
