Wylde, John (lived c. 1425-50)

English music theorist, precentor of Waltham Abbey, near London. He wrote a summary of Guido d'Arezzo's theoretical work, entitled Musica Gwydonis monachi. This stands at the head of a collection compiled by him (British Library, Lansdowne MS 763) which later belonged to Tallis, whose signature it bears.
