Wynne

Town and administrative headquarters of Cross County, northeast Arkansas; population (1990) 8,200. It is situated on the west slope of Crowley's Ridge, 69 km/43 mi west of Memphis, Tennessee. Founded in 1863 in the only hilly area of Arkansas's fertile Delta, it is an agricultural trade centre, with cotton and food processing industries, and ships such products as peaches and cucumbers.
