X-ray telescope

In astronomy, telescope designed to receive electromagnetic waves in the X-ray part of the spectrum. X-rays cannot be focused by lenses or mirrors in the same way as visible light, and a variety of alternative techniques is used to form images. Because X-rays cannot penetrate the Earth's atmosphere, X-ray telescopes are mounted on satellites, rockets, or high-flying balloons.
