Xingu

Region in Pará, Brazil, crossed by branches of the Xingu River which flows for 1,900 km/1,200 mi to the Amazon Delta. In 1989 Xingu Indians protested at the creation of a vast, intrusive lake for the Babaquara and Kararao dams of the Altamira complex.
