yakshi

In Indian mythology, a female goddess associated with the fertility of the earth, love, and beauty. Yakshis probably originated with the early Dravidians but have subsequently been absorbed into the imagery of Buddhism, Hinduism, and Jainism. The male equivalent is the yaksha.
