Yakut

Member of the most numerous of the peoples of northern Russia. They live in the basin of the Lena River and adjacent areas of eastern Siberia. They are sedentary; most are stockbreeders, hunters, and fishers. Their language is related to Turkish.

In the 14th century they came from the south and conquered the inhabitants. The Yakuts have been subject to Russia since the 17th century.
