Yansons (or Jansons), Arvid (1914–1984)

Latvian conductor. He debuted at the Riga Opera in 1944. He conducted the Leningrad Philharmonic Orchestra from 1952, and was chief guest conductor with the Hallé Orchestra from 1964. His son is Marriss Jansons.
