Yauco

Town in the Yauco Municipio, southwest Puerto Rico; population (1990) 18,200. It is located 24 km/15 mi west-northwest of Ponce, on the Yauco River. A hilly tobacco and sugarcane producing community, with some light manufactures, it has been widely known since the 19th century for its coffee.
