Yellow Springs

Yellow Springs

Small town in Greene County, southwest Ohio; population (1990) 4,000. It is located 13 km/8 mi south-southwest of Springfield. The town was founded in 1804 and named after the neighbouring iron springs. There is diversified agriculture in the area, and some light industry in the town. Yellow Springs is home to Antioch College (1852); Horace Mann, the first president of this progressive institution, is buried on the grounds. John Bryan State Park is 3 km/2 mi to the southeast, on the Little Miami River.
