Yixian formation

In palaeontology, a Chinese geological formation in the the rural province of Liaoning that is yielding a wealth of extraordinarily well-preserved fossils. The fossils date from 150 to 120 million years ago (late Jurassic or early Cretaceous) and include those of hundreds of early birds, such as Confuciusornis, with feathers, lizards with full skin, and mammals with hair.
