Yokosuka

Seaport and naval station in Kanagawa prefecture, Japan, on Tokyo Bay, 20 km/12 mi south of Yokohama; population (2005) 426,200. Local industries include car assembly.

Yokosuka is situated in a large, naturally sheltered harbour, which aided its development as a shipyard from 1865.
