Yolo County

County in north-central California; area 2,626 sq km/1,014 sq mi; population (1990) 141,100. Woodland is its administrative headquarters; Davis is its largest city. It is situated in a rich agricultural area in the south Sacramento Valley, along the Sacramento River; the Cache and Putah creeks and numerous irrigation canals also flow through the county. It produces sugar beets, tomatoes, asparagus, alfalfa and grains, rice, fruit, olives, beans, livestock, and dairy goods, along with sand, gravel, and natural gas.
