Young America

Town in Carver County, south Minnesota; population (1990) 1,400. It adjoins the town of Norwood, and is located 56 km/35 mi southwest of Minneapolis, in a lake-filled agricultural area. It is a farm trade centre. Settled in the 1850s, Young America took as its name a reference to the vigour of the then westward-expanding nation.
