Younis, Waqar (1969– )Pakistani cricketer. A right-arm opening bowler capable of bowling with great pace and hostility, using reverse swing to great effect, he made his Test debut in 1989 and was only the third bowler to take 300 wickets for Pakistan. Remarkably accurate for a bowler of his pace, he was the second player in history to take 400 wickets in One-day internationals. In May 2000, he was fined along with five other Pakistani players after an investigation into match-fixing claims. He played in 87 Tests for his country, 17 as captain.
