Yudenich, Nikolai Nikolaevich

Yudenich, Nikolai Nikolaevich (1862–1933)

Russian general. He saw service in the Russo-Japanese war 1904–05 and in World War I. He defeated the Turkish offensive in the Caucasus led by Enver Pasha 1915 and carried out offensives against the Turks 1916. He turned up again in Finland 1919, commanding White Russian forces in an offensive against the Bolsheviks near Petrograd (now St Petersburg) but was defeated and went into retirement.
