Yverdon

Commune and spa in the Swiss canton of Vaud, at the southwestern end of Lake Neuchâtel; population (1995) 23,200. Yverdon manufactures rolling stock and cigars. The town is built on the site of the Roman town of Eburodunum.

At the beginning of the 19th century Yverdon's castle was home to a school run by the educational reformer Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi.
