Zádor, Jenö (1894–1977)

Hungarian composer. He studied with Heuberger in Vienna and Reger at Leipzig; he also took a course in musicology and graduated with a Ph.D. in 1921. He became professor at the new Vienna Conservatory in 1921, and at the Budapest Academy of Music in 1934. In 1939 he settled in the USA and devoted himself largely to the orchestration of film music by other composers.

operas Diana (1923), The Island of the Dead (1928), Asra (1936) and others; songs.

Instrumental

romantic symphony, dance symphony, variations on a Hungarian folksong, carnival suite, Hungarian carpiccio; chamber music; piano works.
