    0.01 sec.

Zémire et Azore

Opera by Grétry (libretto by Marmontel), produced at court, in Fontainbleau, on 9 November 1771. Its first Paris performance was at the Théâtre Italien on 16 December 1771. The story concerns Prince Azor, who has been transformed into an ugly beast until he is loved by a woman. Zémire offers herself as a sacrifice to him to save her father Sandor. Of course she eventually falls in love and Azor is restored.
