Zacara (or Zacar or Zacharie) (lived 14th–15th centuries)

Either of two composers active in Italy during the late 14th and early 15th centuries: the works of Antonio Zacara of Teramo (fl. 1391–c. 1420) are found in manuscripts from many parts of Europe and were evidently very influential; they include Mass movements and Italian and French songs. Nicola Zacharie of Brindisi (fl. 1420–1434) was a singer in the papal chapel 1420–24 and again in 1434; he also sang in Florence. His works include perhaps only one Italian song, motets, and one Mass movement.
