Zachau, Friedrich Wilhelm

Zachau, Friedrich Wilhelm (1663–1712)

German organist and composer. He was a pupil of his father, a town musician, from whom he learnt to play all the current instruments. The family moved to Eilenburg in 1676, and in 1684 he was appointed organist at the church of Our Lady of Halle, where Handel later became his pupil.
