Zampa, ou La Fiancée de marbre

Opera by Ferdinand Hérold (libretto by A H J Mélesville), produced at the Opéra-Comique, Paris, on 3 May 1831. In the story, the wedding of Camille and Alphonse is interrupted by the pirate Zampa, the older brother of Alphonse. Before Zampa can force Camille to marry him the statue of his former bride Alice kills him.
