Zell am See

Town and tourist resort in the Salzburg province of Austria, 55 km/34 mi southwest of the city of Salzburg; population (2001) 9,600. Zell is situated on the western shore of Lake Zeller (Zellersee) at the foot of Mount Schmittenhöhe (height 1,968m/6,456 ft). Some copper is mined in the vicinity.
