ZIF socket

Socket on a computer's motherboard that enables a chip to be easily removed or inserted by use of a lever. ZIF sockets are usually only used for expensive microprocessors that are designed to be upgraded.

On older Pentium computers,the AMD Athlon and the Duron processor,look for a ZIF or Zero Insertion Force socket where the processor is mounted.
