Zgorzelec

Industrial town (lignite, textiles) in Jelenia Góra province, western Poland, on the right bank of the River Nysa at the German border, 45 km/28 mi west of Wrocław; population (1990) 36,100. It was an eastern suburb of German Görlitz until 1945, and remains connected by bridge.
