Znojmo

Town in Moravia, southern Czech Republic, on the River Dyje near the Austrian border, 52 km/32 mi from Brno; population (2001) 35,800. Industries include pottery, footwear, sports equipment, and food processing. Znojmo is a historic town with a Romanesque monastery founded 1190.

In 1809 Napoleon I signed an armistice in the town with Archduke Charles after the French defeated the Austrians at the Battle of Wagram.
