Znojmo

Town in Moravia, southern Czech Republic, on the River Dyje near the Austrian border, 52 km/32 mi from Brno; population (2001) 35,800. Industries include pottery, footwear, sports equipment, and food processing. Znojmo is a historic town with a Romanesque monastery founded 1190.

In 1809 Napoleon I signed an armistice in the town with Archduke Charles after the French defeated the Austrians at the Battle of Wagram.

Currently the course takes place in the South Moravian town of Znojmo in the latter half of August.
The subjects were from the following locations (in alphabetical order; if there was more than one subject, the number of subjects is given in brackets): Boskovice, Brno (16), Ceske Budijovice (2), Frydek-Mestek, HavleEkuv Brod, Jablonec nad Nisou, JiEen, Litomirice, Litomysl, Moravsky Krumlov, Most (2), Prague (11), Pribyslav, Prostejov, Ritka, Trutnov, Svitavy, Zdiby, Znojmo (4), and Zulova.
In March of 2009, the Company's Route 59 casino and the newly-launched Hotel Savannah, near Znojmo, Czech Republic, approximately 45 minutes north of Vienna, Austria, successfully hosted the 2009 Miss Austria pageant on their premises.
