Zoar

Small town and former religious settlement in Tuscarawas County, east Ohio; population (1990) 200. It is situated on the Tuscarawas River, 21 km/13 mi south of Canton. The site was settled in 1817 by a group of German Protestant Separatists who formed a self-sustaining communal corporation. In 1898 the community disbanded, and the property was divided.
